PROFESSOR IN ULTRALOW-ENERGY SCALE MATERIALS, DEVICES AND SYSTEMS
At the Science, Engineering and Technology Group, jointly between the Faculty of Engineering Science, Department of Electrical Engineering (ESAT), Division MICAS and the Faculty of Science, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Laboratory for Semiconductor Physics at KU Leuven (Leuven, Arenberg) there is currently a vacancy in the field of ultralow energy scale materials, devices and systems. We are looking for an internationally oriented candidate with an excellent research record and with educational competence exploring the fundamental physical challenges and engineering implementations related to the field of ultralow-energy scale materials, devices and systems. The Division MICAS of the Department of Electrical Engineering (ESAT) has a research focus on microelectronic circuits and sensors. Besides circuit design this also comprises research on nano- and micro-electromechanical systems (N/MEMS). The Laboratory for Semiconductor Physics of the Department of Physics and Astronomy has a research focus on developing novel materials and new physical concepts paving the way to low power applications. Both research divisions have elaborate, up-to-date research infrastructure at its disposal to fulfil these needs. This includes state-of-the-art thin film growth and characterisation facilities as well as a cleanroom for micro- and nanofabrication. This infrastructure is partly located in the new Corelab facilities of the Science, Engineering and Technology Group.
